I have an 09 matrix, got one of the first ones they sold in Mar.
I have not found a lot of accessories as of yet. I am not going to mod this car but I want to eventually
add a trunk bike rack
need a sun shade or the windows tinted (this car is extremely warm, and there is possibility that it may get to 100 degrees this summer). I have no shade to park in.
replace the mirror with one with the electronic compass.
I have not found any of these yet. I think this car is still too new. I like the car and will drive it a long time so I am not in a rush.
Ouch jdhog. Does your insurance cover the hail damage? My daughter is grown but maybe I wiill need the Graco baby seat for a grandchild someday!
I was surprised your Trix had no rear wiper -- thought they all did. Is Photobucket the best way to post pictures on the forum?
matrixgirl09: Mine came with tinted windows which is really a must here in Tucson. I also bought the sunshade from Toyota which fits the front windshield perfectly. I have always thought the Homelink rearview mirrors were interesting with compass, thermometer and can control your garage door. I miss the WOW factor my 2005 Mustang had but am enjoying the Trix and most especially the gas mileage. I think I am a safer driver now that I am not tempted by all the horsepower the Mustang had :-)
do you mean you ordered the sun shade from a website or the dealership? I called the dealership I bought it from and they don't carry it.
The other toyota dealership closer to me doesn't have the accessories yet. Next oil change I'll check again. I found an aftermarket mirror but I am not paying over 200.00 for it, because I can get a garmin nuvi or tom tom for that much.

photobucket is a great way to post images, unless you have some other hosting space available.
The rear wiper comes with a package that was not on my trix, no big deal, but no, it is not standard on US base models.
Good luck on the grandchild!
BTW there should be some accessories available from the dealer. I'm thinking of getting some alloy wheels and roof rack, but will have to save some first

matrixgirl09: My Toyota dealer had the sunshades in the parts department area. They had custom fit ones for all models such as Highlander, Rav4, Prius, Matrix, etc. Sunshades are a must here in Tucson (ave temp over 100 degrees every day in the summer). Maybe not such a "hot" item in Michigan? The price was $29.95 (sorta pricey because you can buy generic ones that fit, but not as perfectly) for about $15.
jhhog: what about the hail damage -- does insurance cover that? Guess you would have to pay the deductible? Got my dash kit today so am heading to CC to buy an HU tomorrow.
Yes I guess the shade is not a "hot item" here. BTW I have been in Phoenix and Vegas in the summer so I know what the temp is like. Our window tinting law is pretty lame too.
Thanks for your help though, I'll order one online as soon as I can find one for the 09 unless the 08 will fit, but I am not sure since it's a redesigned model. Our temps have gotten to 90 already but we have the humidity. I am sure you are tired of the "it's a dry heat" jokes

Reason: bad grammar
Yeah, there are some great tee shirts with a cartoon of a skeleton laying in the desert under a blazing sun with the caption "But It's a Dry Heat". And so is putting your head in an oven! Since you have spent time in Phx and LV you know what I mean, although this is now our "monsoon" season so it is actually raining and temps are lower. Still not near the humidity you get though...
jdhog is the one with the hail damage -- not me, fortunately. Your inputs on this forum helped me decide to buy my 1.8L Trix. Like it alot so far.
i want to put tint on mine, cause im moving to Mesa Az in about 2 months. but im not sure what % i should use.
Tuscondivots: what % do u have on ur Trix?
i would love, absolutly LOVE to the the new Pioneer Avic-Z3 that came out.
and im putting on 18"
getting a Sub
Hella horn
smoked tail lights
and lower it about an inch 3/4.
and a cold air intake
im not sure of what else tho. any ideas? i know there isnt much out there for the 09' yet. but if anyone knows where i could find things for our car that there actually is... that would be awesome!
and since im moving to arizona in a few months i need to be ready for the heat and all sorts of different things. im on the East cost, have been all my life. i just visited my boyfriend who lives in Mesa for the past 2 weeks so i got a taste of the 113 degree weather. and it rained alot while i was ther so i got a bit of everything.
So far I have added a Bazooka sub and I have just replaced the factory air filter system with an after market air system from Ebay (Works Well). My next project is to update to Magnaflow once they bring out a new catback system.
I did get the rear bumper guard (about $35 at the dealer). It is easy to put on and helps prevent scratches.
The only other accessories involve the stereo. Had the base Toyota. Put in a Pioneer DEH-P4000UB, 4 channel amp, 4 Polk speakers, XM radio and a Bazooka subwoofer tube. It really sounds good! I am using a flash drive connected to the USB cable for all my downloaded CD's. Had never done that before but it sounds amazing.
SportLynn: I am in Tucson which can be about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Mesa. But after 100 degrees it does not matter much. But you will enjoy Nov through March when it is 60 to 70 degrees!
