2.4 for 4200 Miles

Just got back from a 4,213 mile trip in my Matrix S with the 2.4 Liter engine. I used 130.68 gallons of gas over 4,213 miles for an overall average of 32.239 mpg for the trip. Speeds were kept at or below 70 mph most of the time and most of the gas contained 10% ethenol. I also use Mobil 1 5W30 oil for lubrication.

Some pretty good stats for the 2.4, assuming it's mostly hwy, manual or auto? Also I thought the 2.4 also recommended 5w20 ?

Mostly highway, Multi-mode automatic. And, you're right about the oil. It's 5W20, not 5W30.

I drive 130 Km round trip to work every day, out of that 14 Km is city streets, if I keep Highway speed @ 100Km per hour ((about 65miles miles per hour) I get 525 Km per tank of gas, if I drive over 120 Km per hour a few Km's at a time a few Times I am lucky to get 450 Km on a tank, I have the XR 2.4L 5 speed manual. in 4 months I have over 12K on the car. Great car for me so far. so I do average 32 mpg as well as long as I do not go over the 100Km/h

i just took my long awated move to Arizona from Pennsylvaina. it was aprox 2400 miles. i have the 2.4 multi-mode automatic as well. and i averaged around 32mpg also. i kept it around 75mph on the way down.
