2009 Matrix Passenger Seat Belt Alarm

I was told by the salesman that this could be turned off. I took it in and service said they would do it, but they can no longer turn it off without cutting wires. I know for a fact it could be turned off on previous models, and I have a VERY hard time believing they can't turn it off on the 2009. Is there anybody out there who has had it turned off or knows for sure if it can or can't?

Now, before you all respond by saying "you should just wear your seat belt", please read again and see that it is the PASSENGER side I want disabled. I do not have passengers. I often have my car full of equipment and need to set things on the front seat.

Thank you.

Can't you just disconnect it under the seat?

They should be able to code zap the car via the plug in to disable it.....I would talk to the service manager or check another dealer......

Code zap?

Check the owner's manual to see if turning of the warning is an option.

Here's how it was done on the 1st gen Matrix. This originated from an early 200X Echo manual. I'm pretty sure it does not work on the 2nd gen Matrix.

How to disable seat belt buzzzzzzzzzer?!

Maybe if you mention this to that dealer, they could find an updated variation?

^ I've tried the 1st gen instructions umpteen times to no avail on my 09. There's got to be a way without cutting wires surely.

Check the 2009 Corolla forum, people posted how to do it. It should be able to be turned off with the Toyota computer though. I turned mine off.

nice thinking Jeff! here's a link to a thread on it. you'll see at the end that it's not working for everyone. I've tried it myself a few times and I never had any luck

It must not work on the 09 Matrix. I've tried it a bunch of times a bunch of different ways and never do I see a b-on b-off option appear in the display no matter how long I hold the button either in ODO tripa and tripb
