Don't know if anyone's interested, but I just picked up and installed a drop-in TRD air filter PTR05-52070 in my 1.8L. It's actually listed on most websites and on my receipt the description 'TRD XD Yaris Air Filter' which I guess use the same 2zr-fe engine and/or air box. Fits nicely.

Would that work for a 2009 corolla s? Yea i know noob question, but there's some parts out there for matrix only so I'm not sure lol.

Yes I'm almost 100% sure it will, because it's the same engine, 2zrfe

Corolla and Matrix with 1.8l motors use the same filter. I have both a 2010 Corolla S and a 2010 Matrix and put the same filters in both

you should get the Weapon-R Short Ram Intake for the 1.8l Carolla, it will fit the 1.8l Matrix. I've had mine on for a few months and it is absolutely awesome!

A drop-in was nice quick and easy without to much alterations. My Matrix is on a lease so I don't want to mod it too much. Glad you like the Weapon-R though.
