Canada Bluetooth

Hey all.

I had the Toyota-supplied Bluetooth package installed yesterday. It took about 5 minutes to figure it out but it works. It works great. The voice recognition technology is quite good. It didn't have any trouble at all taking my voice commands. It did take about 3 to 5 minutes scrambling around how to pair up my cell phone with the BT but it hooked up just nicely. I'll take a few pics on the install and how it looks. It has a very clean apparence. The price worked out a few bucks cheaper that going with the Parrot system. I decided on the Toyota Bluetooth since it would be fully warrantied by Toyota under my extended plan and fully compatible with any existing Toyota electronics. So far so good. I'll keep everyone informed of any hicups!

Canada Phone type

I'm using the Motorola ROKR Z6m Camera Phone. I haven't had any problems so far. I even had the phone on my belt clip under my winter coat and when I started the car, after about 60 seconds the Bluetooth system recognizes the phone automatically. Cool. No fiddling around and I don't have to have the cell phone out of my pocket.

yeah it'll recognize the phone even if you are out of the car up to 10' away and the car is running.

the only thing i dont like is that when it rings it says "incoming call" and then when you accept the call it shows the incoming number........ so if i want to see who is calling i have to unholster it and look. but it's okay i can handle that.

Talking Bluetooth - discovering quirks

One quik i've noticed is that if I use my command start - and I do use it here in Winnipeg in the subzero weather, the Bluetooth obviously is power up and so when I finally get into the car and drive away it isn't paired up with my phone. I can live with that, the work around is to shut the car off and then restart it, then drive away. Oh well, something to be aware of.

Canada Cost of Bluetooth

The Factory / Toyota Bluetooth cost me $477 installed. I checked out the pricing of other 3rd party Bluetooth systems and they all cost over $500 plus installation. I'm happy with the Toyota Bluetooth system so far. It recognizes my phone without problems, even when I use the command start and i'm about 10 or 15 feet away.

Here's a curious one...I was reading the Bluetooth manual that they provided and also the 2009 Matrix manual and they state that there should be a readout on the factory deck. Does anyone else have the Toyota Bluetooth system installed? If so, does the display show the bluetooth icon and other data when the system is being used?

Well a buddies 09 Lancer has a read out in the steveo, not sure what it said when we used it something like the number and calling etc, hit the call button and say the number and it calls it. Kinda cool but it doesn't understand what number you say some times. I don't call enough in the car at the moment so I'll stick with the blue tooth head set for now.
