Turbo or supercharger?

I am doing some research for a friend at work that wants more power out of his 09 Matrix, since he has the base model and there's not much power to it at all. I've seen turbo kits for them but was wondering if there are any supercharger kits out there for the 09. I'm curious as to what every one thinks is the best route, which solution will be cheaper and some places to buy either kit since they seem to be scarce. I was also curious as to weather there is a more popular toyota the has the same engine set up to make the parts easier and or cheaper to find. I don't mind if it only takes minor alterations to adapt it to the car.

Seems like some of the Scion xD crowd are more into modding their engines, you might find some good threads on a xD forum. There was a poster here and on the rolla forum that was looking for people interested in a turbo and racing pulleys etc he was from an xD forum.....
