BYPASS MODULE FOR REMOTE START need help

I recently bought a remote start {SCYTEK 400RS-2w-1}
and unfortunately all newer car models including mine need a bypass module for it to work,
i was wondering what kind of decent/good but least expensive bypass module do i need or have to buy for the remote start to work..

thanks for future help folks

Chances are, this module will cost as much or even more than the remote you just bought. Ones that are specific to Toyota/Lexus models are made by XpressKit http://www.xpresskit.com - the modules run about $75. Some models require that you surrender a main key, so it can tap the transponder there, others can clone the transponder - so you get to keep the key - so check carefully.

If you don't want to lose a key or worry about flashing the firmware then the module with the easiest install is going to be the PKALL from Directed electronics and xpresskit. Best buy and Frys has it in store for $80. Or if you can wait, go to newegg for $40 plus shipping.

The only thing is you may need 2 keys to program the unit.

eBay. I bought my XK05 for my Camry for $35-45 including shipping and seller programs it for my car.

Just go to xpresskit to find out which one works with your car and than go on eBay and search for it. I did not have to give up my valet key since the XK05 generates a code to trick the car into thinking there is a key.

Just be careful if you pick up the XK05 as it will require a specific firmware to be flashed for compatibility to your car and a bootloader to flash the firmware to the module. Some sellers may have it flashed for a different set of vehicles or an obsolete firmware not compatible to your car. So be aware.

I'd still say that the PKALL is your best bet as I feel that its the most reliable that I've worked with. And it does not require any flashing whatsoever out of the box.

In short, "flashing" is downloading a firmware, or program, into the units memory to tell it what to do. In this case the program downloaded into the module is specific to a certain set of vehicles. Sometimes they do come up with updated firmwares so that it will function more reliably, add functions, or just so it can work with more vehicle. The module should have a default firmware. So long as the firmware lists that it is compatible with your car then you should be fine with that module.

Personally, I only like the DEI branded alarms/RS (like viper, clifford, python, etc.). Since I install mobile electronics for a living, I like those for their and ease of install over other brands and their technical support. I'm sure this is not going to be a determining factor for most people. But also as an owner of their units I like it for the reliability. The best stuff is usually made by DEI. Even the module you bought, the XK05, is made by a child company of DEI. On the other hand, they do come at a price, but a price I believe is worth it considering some of their equiptment come with a lifetime warranty.
But no matter what product you buy, it doesn't matter if it wasn't installed right.
