Canada Steering audio control installed afterward ?

I was wondering if it was possible to buy a steering wheel audio control kit from ebay or other, and install it in my 2010 matrix XR. I could not find anything from ebay, and on the toyota site, you cannot buy it as a separate option.

I did not buy it in the first place, and I miss it. Do you think the connectors are already in the steering and it's simply a matter of removing some plastic and replace with audio controls or would I have to replace the whole steering ?

Thanks

Better question is weather your factory radio is ready for steering wheel controls?

There is not market for something like this, because it's not very cost effective for the amount of engineering required for all the replacement parts vs potential buyers. The only options I see so far are DIY or toyota OEM parts. Which i can imagine are not going to be worth the price from the hundreds of dollars, possibly more. Or it may be possible with an aftermarket radio with a stick-on wireless remote.

clepeterd,

Also, the Toyota Steering Wheel Audio Controls are probably the worst on the market.

The volume is so slow and raises the volume in such small increments at a time as to make it next to useless. It's quicker to reach for the knob on the radio. The mode control which switches from the radio bands or CD is not bad.

My former GM with Monsoon Stereo had great wheel-mounted controls.
In general, Toyota electronic convenience features are sub par...don't get me started on the lame Remote Start and Add-on Blue Tooth.
