Question Matrix for North America only?

I wonder if there's the equivalent of the Matrix in Japan or Europe...

Yes! In Europe (at least in England) it is called the Auris Hatchback

It's also available as a 3 Door (including Hatch) version...that would have been a nice option here!

It's available there with a diesel! Why not here???

It seems to be very different but I prefer the Matrix

The diesel engine could be a great option, but unfortunately our diesel quality is too poor compared as the one in Europe.

EDIT: Wow, I just read (on France Toyota website)... There is a Auris with a 2.2L diesel: 177ch@3600RPM, 300lbs-ft@2000RPM, manual 6 speeds! I want it

Isn't it officially known as a 'Corolla Wagon'?

SHUSH! You're not supposed to call it a "wagon"...young people won't buy it then

While it won't hold a 4'x8' sheet of plywood like my parents' Country Squire Wagon did, it really is a Corolla Wagon as mentioned.

Toyoto Marketing folks like to think of it as an SUV/Sport/Crossover. They thought that by getting rid of all the rear side glass like most "wagons" have, it would be more appealing to the younger crowd. However, just like the Honda Element, it is selling to a much wider and older range than they anticipated.

Japan also has the Auris and Blade; the Blade also offers a V6 engine (the same exact V6 in the Camry here in the States)

Canada

my cousin in switzerland had a similar model to mine, and his was a "corolla".. a bit smaller but same design from what i remember.

im in my mid 20's and this car is perfect, i put the snowboard in the back, transport a table from IKEA -> home, 32 inch LCD, its very roomy and convenient IMHO!
