what? lol, tires are just tires. just get all 4 the same ones and change them. the sensors are only to check pressure it isn't on the tire, it's on the rim... actually, it's the valve stem.

i didnt change my tires but i did get new wheels and tires. all they did at Discount Tire co was use old sensors and change tires to new ones.

Yeah they won't need to mess with the sensors unless your getting new wheels as well. Most tire places deal with them a lot now, it's not a big deal. I got mine swapped from steelies onto my alloys.

Also spot the contradiction in anz post:

blah lol, i shoulda rephrase that to " i didn't get new tires for my steelies, instead i got a whole new set of wheels with new tires... and transferred the sensors from steelies to the new wheels. "

ok another "silly Question" I checked my tires and they say 215/45R17, I Know the 17 is the RIM the 215 is the with of the tire and the 45 is the tire from the floor to the rim. I hope I am right, can I get different tires on the 45 can I get a higher number for better comfort ? if so what is recommended or do I have to stay with the same dimensions ?

thank you for the answers

Canada Stay away from Corporate Chain Department Stores selling crap tires

You can get the tire that would fit on your rims form any good tire retailer or certain chain tire stores that have good quality of service and knowledge. I would not recommend Walmart or department stores with a garage (or up here in Canada - Canadian Tire) - Costco is okay. They do sell brand name or unknown brands of tires. I looked up at Bridgestone's, Goodyears or national brand websites and compared to the tires that Walmart sells. Either it is a non-standard oem tire that you see on new vehicles or made for that company, like Walmart.

They have the same safety and manufacturing standard, but the compound/material is different in order to keep the cost low for the Department Store Chain to sell to their customers. The Toyo snow tires that I bought from OK tires are good and the guys there are knowledgeable when it comes to tires and tpms. They tell their customers not to go to Walmart or Canadian tire because the tires are either oem or low quaility that sucks. Even the guys got a hold of a pair of tires from Walmart from a customer and displays them by their service counter. They told me those tires didn't last that long when the customer was driving for less than a year.

Car Dealers - overpriced on oems or higher end tires. The only time that you deal with the Car dealers if they have the same better quality tires (not oems) as the tire dealers if they go on sale.

Caveat Emptor - "Buyer beware" on the department store tires.

ohh I would never go to Walmart or Crapy tire, I got a quote from the dealer and they want $345/tire. Local tire shop is getting me quotes for a few bands the same size I have now, he quoted me on some good year, Bridgestones, and some not so known brands I think Continental or something like that, all around $150 to $180 Canadian, Another tire shop wanted $158 for Michelin . thanks for the advice.
