Cell Phone hands-free/bluetooth probs in 2nd hand 09 Matrix XRS
First, I have to disclose that I am not exactly a geek when it comes to technologies such as blue tooth devices and such. This is the first 'new' car I have ever owned (I'm over 50 yrs. old) and while I do pretty well with regular computers and such, these nifty new cars easily baffle me.
I bought the 09 Matrix through a dealer and it appears to have had only one prior owner. The car does NOT have one of those GPS navigation things or any other display screens beyond what which shows in the "JBL In Dash am/fm/sat 6-DR changer w/WMA, MP3 playback capability". Specs state it is equiped with Bluetooth with 9 speakers in 7 locations and steering wheel audio/hands-free controls"
The system still has/had the settings as per the prior owner. I have not been able to either (a) get the hands-free/phone set up to either 'start fresh' (as if brand new w/o prior owner or programing), or (b) recognize & allow setup of my LG AX355 bluetooth-enabled cell phone.
I have read the manuals for the car, for the phone, and searched fairly extensively via google - but to no avail. The Toyota manual itself absolutely glazes my eyes over and leave my brain running in circles when it comes to trying to follow the instructions for phone linking/pairing, whatever else the buzz terms are. I also searched these forums to a point quite a ways back in time, but didn't find anything that would seem to help my specific situation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any way to 'reset' the car/phone system to fresh, empty, as if new or never before used? Analogously, similar to removing a car's battery for a time in order to fully clear both short and long-term malfunction codes?
This really has been maddening for me.
Thanks.
