Canada Recall?

Just wondering if anyone here has taken their car in for the recall fix yet for the gas pedal? Was your car exhibiting any symptoms before hand? How's the car behaving since the fix?

I had read an article on The Consumerist website that mentioned someone having their recall work done and the issue not being resolved.

Had no issue with the gas pedal, but still took the car to the dealer to get it fixed, just to avoid any possible future issues. Works like before. Not a problem.

No recall letter, no problems so far. My dealer told me to wait for the letter before making an appointment.

I've received my recall notice, along with a call from my dealership letting me know. I haven't had any issues yet, so was figuring I'd wait until my first oil change was due.

Everything I've read about the recall indicates the issue is related to wear on the pedal and I've only got about 6500 Km on the car now.

I got the recall notice in the mail today. With the latest news report on the Prius that had accelerator issues I am beginning to think it is time to trade my Trix in on something I am comfortable driving my family around in.

recall

Get real guys. Servco Toyota in Hawaii's been calling and setting appointments with all recall vehicles in Hawaii. I had mine done last week. No difference noticed. Think about this we all have electronic throttles controlled by computer chips. How hard would it be to have faulty chips? If my gas pedal stuck, why would my car continue to accellarate after taking my foot off the pedal and stepping on the brake? This whole thing smells of coverup. It's gotta be related to the car's computers that control accellaration. Think about it... I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones that don't have computer problems.

no problems before, didn't feel a difference afterwards, mostly just got it to cover my behind.

I have a clutch pedal and I ain't afraid to use it.. stuck throttles don't scare me :p

and if you don't have a clutch, you still got a gearstick.. I just don't understand what all the hubbub is about.

Got my recall work done today. Do not feel any difference but at least I can sell or drive the car with some peace of mind. Maybe Obama can blame healthcare not passing on Toyota -- they are getting blamed for everything else :-)

Finally got my car in this past Thursday for an oil change and had them do the recall work at the same time.

Wasn't noticing any issues before hand, not noticing any now.

Canada

Took mine in for the recall last month. They showed me the little tiny shim they were going to install.

The number of stories I've heard about people driving at a high rate of speed with the throttle (allegedly) stuck wide open for miles and miles, shifting into neutral, reverse, park, applying the brakes, making phone calls etc. boggles my mind. Did nobody think to turn off the engine? And to think we're out there with these people!

Years ago I was on the highway in a BMW 325 rental car using the cruise control to accelerate when I realized that it didn't stop speeding up when I released the switch. I applied the brakes, turned off key and pulled over to the shoulder. No drama!
