Canada Navigation System (GPS) Very Frustrating

Since I took delivery of my 2010 Matrix, over 50% of the addresses I look up say "street number does not exist" when in actual fact it does. My 4 year old, out of date TomTom finds them 99% of the time. The other problem is that it doesn't show one-way streets. Just about every GPS on the market does that!

It is loaded with the latest ver. 08.1 software. I was told there should be an update available shortly but at $295.00 it's simply not worth it, especially since there's no guarantee they will address those issues. I'm driving from Toronto to NY City this summer, maybe I should take the TomTom as well, just to be safe. Although, for the price of the factory GPS, I shouldn't have to.

Does anyone else find the factory navigation system rather frustrating as I do?

Actually, the latest map DVD software version is 9.1, which released in fall of 2009. You have an earlier edition, which could be a couple. of years old.

Did you set your search area in Canada (CAN)?

I love the factory NAVI on my Corolla and Camry. Better than portable NAVI.

Well, they gave me the wrong info then. I took delivery of my 2010 on May 12, 2009. Yes, my search are is in Canada. It finds the street, just not the number half the time. For the price, I would have thought it would have been better. Spending $335.00 for an update after owning the car for less than a year is insane.

Yes. It is a bummer! I do not think it is worth spendig the money for an update.

I had a couple of map errors in my vehicles. I approached my preferred dealership and they managed to take down this information. I believe they report these errors to Toyota Canada.

You should try if you want. Good luck!!

I've noticed similar issues with mine. I'm not sure how to find the version of software/maps I'm running, but I'll try and remember to look for it when I'm in the car... suppose its probably on the dvd.
