I don't think so. I paid extra for it.. but it's totally a rip off because each year you 'll have to pay another $45 for inspection just so they can fix any spots free of charge.

Nope.

You're better off getting a yearly rust proofing application from Krown. Much cheaper and more effective.

My dealer doesn't charge for the annual inspection. I got the complete rust, interior and paint protection package along with extended warranty because they were offering a special price at the time which included free roadside and the first 4 oil changes.

Also, based on my experience with Krown, it is not worth the money.

1) In my case it destroyed the factory undercoating on my 2000 Pathfinder. It all disolved and gooey black puddles dripped onto and stained my new concrete driveway.

2) The Pathfinder lower window trim started to rust after just 3 years.

3) Within 6 years the front doors around the mirrors were rusting through...and this was with annual Krown spraying. Krown was only willing to repair the door rust with "bondo" which would not have provided a secure mouting point for the mirrors. I had to pay out of pocket for new door skins.

...so I ask you. What good is the Krown warranty if they are not going to stand behind it?

All that is needed is frequent washings especially the undercarriage

They're a business that does not want to take a risk, and if they make money in the process all the better. You should not be surprised by this.

Zythr,

I almost bought a VW Golf before I finalized a better 0% financing deal on the Matrix.

VW's have a 12 year rust perforation warranty, but the warranty is contingent on you NOT applying any form of rust proofing...imagine that!

I can imagine, lol. VW probably takes pride in the metal they used in their vehicles

Pretty much true.

Modern vehicles whole bodies are dipped in corrosion resistant etching primer prior to ever being painted. In areas of heavy salt use, I'd imagine they could use some added protection, but in most areas they are much more corrosion resistant than vehicles from 10 years ago.

Aww, lucky you (i mean the deal that you got). My dealer was cheap and made me pay for the rustproof AND the "free 4 oil changes". =( I honestly don't think rust proof is necessary as long as you care for your car. Having said that, I'm not planning to rustproof for my next car.. (probably a 2011 civic) Oops, I just realized thats what the previous guy said. My bad.
