Need help with Engine Management

i am looking to turbo my wife's 2009 matrix s rather than trade it in for something a little more perky, however, all the searching and researching i have done thus far has yet to give me a solution to engine management. it will be a pieced together custom kit, as i know there are no matrix specific kits out there, and i already have an idea as to the turbo i am going to run, but i am having a hard time with engine management. ideally i would like to not use a piggyback, i would much rather reflash the ecu using open ecu and my tactrix 2.0 cable from my car. so far i havent been able to find anything about people reflashing their ecus which leads me to believe it isn't a viable route. so now i am looking into piggyback compatibility, ie, does the tc have the same ecu pinout, i have been searching but haven't been able to source a pinout for the matrix yet. i know that i will probably have to repost this in the FI forum, but as this is my first post on this site i decided to put it here first. if anyone has any information at all i would greatly appreciate it.

I moved your thread from the intro section here to the Matrix section. These guys might be able to help.
MonkeyWrenchRacing carries/makes alot of turbo/performance parts for the 1zz and 2zz engine.
You may find something there you can use.
Welcome to the forum.
BTW, I'm from Ewa Beach on Oahu.

The 2009 Matrix S shares the same 2.4L engine that is in the Camry and Scion xD and tC - might be able to repurpose one of those kits to suit that engine. That way you are not starting from scratch, buying a part that is already mass produced. Assuming this was the way your are heading, since you inquired about the tC ECM wiring pinout (slightly different, might be able to work around it once you find the pinouts for the 2009 Matrix S).

As for reflashing Toyota ECMs, not really viable. Toyota hasn't opened up their ECMs to tuners or allow for provisions to "reflash" the ECM in that manner. There are some parameters that can be updated with a Toyota scan tool, but not enough to account for a forced induction package.

Piggyback vs standalone depends on your power gains, budget, and future plans. Emanage units have had pretty decent success. Same with Camcom and others. Decent piggybacks that have enough forum support to help you out. For standalone, like an Apexi Power FC or AEM EMS or Hydra EMS system. Others have had good luck with Unichip Q and Megasquirt - lots of choices out there.

i think the matrix 2.4 shares the exact same engine bay/engine/power output as the corolla xrs 2.4 and the scion xB2 2.4. if so, this thread should answer all your questions.

Any other boosted 10th gens out there?
