2nd Generation Removing the JBL radio?

Hi everyone. I just got my new car: a 2009 Matrix XRS.

I simply love it. It's got very low milage.

My only disappointment: the 6 CD changer -- and no USB port.

I want to remove the radio and ultimately get rid of the CD changer. I want to replace it with the GROM audio USB interface.

http://www.gromaudio.com/store/usb_a...interface.html

The question is, my radio is the JBL edition on my Matrix XRS. Is there something anything different I should know than this tutorial :

Thank you for any help, I would appreciate it!

I have an 09 Corolla S that had the JBL HU also. I also replaced mine with a Rosen HU because it was the only one that I could find that had an adapter for the JBL harness since it is different from the standard HU.

Here is my Rosen. I love it.

That's pretty cool! But I hear that a rosen radio w/ navigator is not cheap. Have you installed it yourself? If so, can you tell me what free connector there is (if any) on the JBL radio?

What I get with JBL is pretty standard, except the speakers:

Thanks.

Thanks.
Several Corolla owners have purchased a refurbished Rosen H/U on eBay for around $300 which is a steal. They've had no problems with them at all. I didn't know of this option when I bought mine. I'm looking at another one though for my Previa since I like this one so much. The adapter is not free but I don't remember the cost of it. As I said I did the Rosen because it was the only NAV unit that would work with my JBL. I didn't install mine as as Car Toys gave me a good deal with installation included so I did it that way. I've installed a lot of H/U's over the years though & it's not difficult.

Thanks. One thing for sure I won't buy is the GROM audio USB. It only recognizes 32gb USB sticks. I want to plug a hard disk in there.
I haven't found a ROSEN H/U, but I found a nice Pioneer car radio here:

DVDs, USB, big screen, and more at about $300.
