Awesome idea by the way. I am shocked that a $30K car doesnt come with the folding mirror and a turn signal in the mirror case. No matter what it is still not a deal breaker for me. Would of been nice, but more things to break.
Maybe the folding mirrors are for the Canada models? Since it says standard in the book. What is up with that?
We have a 2009 I4, the mirrors fold and they are power--- just as advertised. "Color-Keyed Foldable Power Outside Mirrors." Our mirrors fold, if you manually do so or hit the side of the garage, thereby hopefully avoiding some real expense. Our mirrors have a series of buttons inside the car that will adjust, by power alone, both outside mirrors. They are "Color Keyed" "Foldable" {Manually or accidentaly}and their field of visions are "power adjusted" from inside the car. Just as described in the advertising. They were not advertised as "Color-Keyed Power Foldable Mirrors." Wyovenza

You must be a lawyer - ... after you word it out "Color-Keyed Foldable Power Outside Mirrors." vs "Color-Keyed Power Foldable Mirrors." it actually makes sense.
BTW, I just got my Golden Umber Venza V6 on 6/15/10 .

I am far from being a lawyer, just an ole Cowboy type who is now dealing in antique western items. I just had a wonderful english teacher in High School. Congratulations on your new Venza. You will really enjoy it. Wyovenza
1. Are you located in the USA?
2. Can you please explain to us how to fold the mirrors in. Are they a trick or something? Where is the power button to do this?
I think you are saying that they do not fold with power, but manually. If so, can you please explain how much force will one have to use to fold them in?
I tried to fold them in and they do not move. I used so good force too until I heard a plastic squeak, not crack and the mirror did not move.
Thanks.

Stallionre ---Howdy from Wyoming USA Wyovenza here.. The mirrors fold manually only. The "Power" refers to changing the rear view from your drivers position. Those two switches are on the driver's side marked {L&R for left and right mirrors} and the other with arrows indicating the direction to change to mirror inside the body of the mirror proper. They are designed to fold in towards the car to reduce damage if you hook them on something like the side of your garage door. One might call it a "break away mirror rather than a "folding mirror". You can fold them by twisting them with your hands, parallel to the ground and the outside of the mirror twists toward the car. Perhaps it would be better if you had your Toyota dealership show you how they fold. Wyovenza
Wyovenza, Awesome thanks. This makes sense. One my Lexus, when you turn the key off the mirrors actually fold inward. I thought that this would have the same feature. At least they Break away when you hit something.
Does anyone compare Venza's side mirrors against a new Prius'? They look very similar and may even be identical! If Prius can install the JDM side mirrors that share with Wish and IQ, so as on the Venza. Can anyone find out if they share the same mirrors?

Someone with the Prius and a Venza might be about to closely compare the two and let us know that. However, even if it is physically the same, a turning signal wire must be routed to the mirror for that little turning signal to work. I am sure sooner or later that feature will become a standard equipment.
I don't own a Venza but I have a current model Prius. I just finished installing a pair of JDM mirrors signal lights plus courtesy lights and they look great! I saw a Venza the other day and their side mirrors kinda look alike. I don't know if they are identical parts but if they are, I am sure Venza owners wouldn't mind adding some more JDM look into their vehicles. First of all, I am not a seller and I am not trying to sell anything here. I just wanna say what is available for Prii which may contribute to Venzas.
As far as I know, a pair of used JDM power folding mirrors from Japan cost $275. They don't include the folding circuity which cost another $150. However, you can design your own circuit to make them folded in/out when turning your engine off/on. I didn't go for the $275 option for a set of power folding mirrors (we don't need that in the US! I used to have them on my Civic but seldom used those feature). Instead, I bought the signal + courtesy combo for just $190 with 2 painted covers. Wiring? Of course you have to figure it out. Every car can be different.
Hi everyone, Toyota prius JDM has power folded mirrors with turn signals, Prius and Venza have the same mirrors. Does somebody know were I can buy this for my Venza? Thanks

I google it and come up with this website that sells thi Venza Sideview Mirror with LED turning signal...
I don't know if it would really work or not because there definitely would have to be wiring for the signal to the mirror itself, but what I don't get is why it seems the automakers do things sometimes to make it seem that they're TRYING to make extra parts. I mean, wouldn't it have been much easier to simply make more interchangeable parts than NOT?
Case in point (like the mirrors here) one of my cars is a 95 Prizm. I picked up a gage cluster plastic window for it once off a gen7 corolla thinking I was good to go. Nope. Of all friggin things......they actually made 2 different clear shields for the gage cluster. Who the F does this? It has nothing to do with the styling of the car or any crap like that, they simply made a whole nother shield. I ran into similar differences later and just scratched my head. Whose relative at Toyota owned a mold shop that needed a bonus?

You think manufacturers would do so, ey? But that would be too easy for us to just unscrew our Venza parts and screw in the Lexus parts ourselves on a nice weekend...they wouldn't want that to happen!
I can't understand that myself but computer and cell phone manufactures are doing the same thing... look at how many different types of power cords I have around the house!
