2006 Avalon catalytic converter smell

When I accelerate quickly on my 06 I get the sulfer smell inside the car. This is with the windows closed and the a/c on fresh air. Should'nt all that odor exit out the tailpipes?
Does this indicate an exhaust leak under the hood?

Could be a damaged converter. If they are working right and doing their job there should be no sulfer smell.

What octane gas have you been using?? If you use a lower octane than the required 91+, you could of damaged the cat.

The required octane is 87 or better. It is stated you may get better perforamance, i.e. more horsepower, from a higher octane but 87 is all that is required.

I appreciate the responses but please consider my original question. I am smelling this through the a/c vents. The exhaust should all be out the pipes and the back of the car.

Is this an exhaust leak if I am smelling this in the cab as soon as I accelerate? How would the smell get in the a/c vents unless there was an exhaust leak?

IF your smelling it through the vents than it may be an exhaust leak by your exhaust manafold or midpipe connection. I would take it in to the dealer since its still under warranty.

there is a tsb concerning the excessive sulfur smell. If the dealer doesn't replace a catalytic converter then call toyota headquarters and tell them what your problem is and that you want a new catalytic converter as the solution to the problem as required by the tsb.
