Remote Start issue?

Hi my name is Dave. New to this forum. I just bought a 06 toyota avi XLS with JBL synthesis, navi, and the trac/Stability/heated seat options. I just had a local dealer install a toyota factory remote starter. I had a little issue from day one where the unit won't start the car. I press the lock twice, than press and hold it for the third time until the engine starts. Usually the car will start without a fuss. But time to time (expecially trying to start it remotely first thing in the morning) the remote starter won't turn the car on. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or the remote starter was installed improperly? Anyone else with factory remote starter have this problem where it will work sometimes and it won't the other?

Dave

There is a starter issue on the Avalon. Does it act up where sometimes it won't start by pressing the button?

And when the problem occurs with the remote, do the electronics turn on, but the engine just doesn't turn over?

If that is the case, it is probably the same issue I had with mine. Just take it in, let them fiddle with it. They had to rewire something on mine.

Good luck.

It doesn't start time to time, but it does other times. I'm not sure about the electronics but I'll try to find that out. I never tested the remote while looking at the dash.

I a Limited also and have the remote starter as an installed option. I have had issues with it from time to time where it does not start and I have to repeat the process two or three times for it to work. I go in for the 5,000 mile check next month and plan to have it checked along with a list of other problems.

I have my car in today to check the remote starter. I wasn't able to replicate the issue since it doesn't act up all the time. But they are still having a look. I'll keep everything posted for those of you who's having the same issue. They suggested the temperature perhaps? Where the starter does not function when the car has been left out in relative heat (<- not necessarily hot).

Okay, out of the dealer and, hopfully, no more problems. So far so good. The dealers couldn't find anything actually wrong with it. But they changed few wirings just in case.
