Unhappy "New" '97 front end

So I finally decided to go with Avalon (as opposed to Malibu!!). This is my 1st day problem.
In the morning when I go over the smallest bumps the front end esp the passenger side has a rubbing noise. Almost like a piece of plastic from the inner fender touches the wheel. When the car sits under the sun the noise is completely gone. Took it to the mech and front end checks out OK, that after sitting under the sun!! Now I will leave it overnight to have them check in the morning but want to know if has got to do with the notorious strut mounts?

Some background; the car has only 50KM and seems like the driver side struts have been changed (the side with less noise).

Please also give price estimates for the recommended repairs if possible.
THANKS

Random help... how fast are you going when you hear bumps? Perhaps you can have someone stand outside the car while you go very slowly to see if you can isolate where the sound is coming from...

Even on very slow drives I hear it.
The interesting thing is that when the car sits under the sun the noise completely disappears.

What does the strut mount sound like when it goes bad? Also what about the tierod ends?
