My wife has been having some things go wrong with her 99 avalon ,first the remote trunk lock stopped working ( have to use the key to open the trunck ) . Now the ECT light can on this morning ?
Sorry for the wrong acronim at first she just got home and it's the ECT light and I tried the button on the shift lever and it still stayes on ?

Any idea what might cause this ?

ECT is you electonic controlled transmission which it keeps it in 1st and 2nd gears for faster acceleration. The button on the shifter is the overdrive, 2 different things. If the ECT light will not go out, you can easily tell if it is on or not by how the car accellerates, shifts and performs. ECT is the sporty mode meant to keep the car in 1st and 2nd gears for longer periods of time.
