Gen1 installing 4chan amp, hu 12v wiring question

Hey everyone, I have a 95 avy with the 6 speaker setup. I had a Pioneer head unit installed at cartoys, and installed my sub/amp myself. I am now ready to put in a new 4 channel amp and want to make sure that I do it right the first time, so I have a question.

Does the hu pull its power from the stock amp 12v output or is the hu 12v wired directly to it. Basically, I am wondering that if I take the stock amp out completely, will I have to hardwire the 12v etc connections striaght to the hu to get power?

This is how I expect things to go if unplugging stock amp doesn't affect power to hu:

a. unplug wiring from stock amp.

b. cut (now unused) speaker wires running from head unit and wrap with some tape.

c. run RCA's from head unit to 4chan amp.

d. run new speaker wires from amp to speakers

e. run power to amp and hope it works the first time.

Now if I have to hardwire the power connections to the hu after unplugging and removing the stock amp, that is where I am going to run into slowdowns. So this is the only concern I really have before going ahead with the install so any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure with this brand of radio, original Toyota’s with external amps had the head unit powered by the amp power, plus the power antenna. Get the wiring diagram for the current head unit. Power at the amp might be the Blue/Yel (Dome fuse) and Gray (Cig/Radio fuse).
