Removing the dashboard

I have a second-hand 1996 Avalon with just under 100,000 miles. Love it, and am looking forward to the next 100k. For Christmas my wife got me a new stereo (CD player and aux input for MP3 player -- very important). Anyhow, I removed the old one with little difficulty, but think I'm going to have to remove the dashboard so I can get at the rest of the wiring and install the new one.

I've Googled and searched this forum, and can't find any info on how to remove the dashboard. Has anyone done this? Like I said, I'm counting on having this car for another 5-10 years, and would hate to break something in my ignorance. Can anyone point me to a good resource?
