Damn problems

Well my buddy has a 95-98 Avalon and his check engine light is on because of auxillary air inlet something circuit that triggers this annoying cel and I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems. His traction control light is also on and although I"m familar with cars I have no experience with Toyotas. Oh, there is also this annoying bolt that looks like a allen wrench design that bolts up to the fender and I"m wondering what sort of socket or tool I need to take it off if any of you gurus out there know what I'm talking about. Thanks for anybody's input.

You may be able to troubleshoot the traction control system using the dash console lights. As the Avalon and Camry are almost the same, download the Gen_4 Camry manual from the link below. Then check out the engine and ABS diagnostic sections.

The Allen head type bolt may be a Torx. Check the link below and compare what you find to what you see. The driver should be available at an auto parts, hardware store, etc.

Head to the dealer, they can tell you what's wrong with the traction control, or buy a Haynes or Chilton manual.
As far as the bolt give us more info like exact location?

Thanks for the input guys. Well I haven't done anything yet to his car but first off:

fj40supraman-You think the dealer tell my friend what is wrong with his traction control for free? Also, the bolt is located directly under the fender, I'd say middle towards front inside the wheelwell part. I'm trying to take off the passenger-side front fender.

toyomoho-Okay, well I'll download that online manual, thanks for the link! Well I'll see what happens now and come back for more advice if I need any! Torx huh? Well, I don't think I have any in my tool collection but....
