keyless entry 1999 avalon

i recently bought a 99 avalon. the seller said she never had a remote but i assume they all came with remote door locks. also, what remote goes with it (model #)

There are 2 basic setups. One is the factory installed unit usually on the XLS. The XL is an option usually installed by the distribution port or dealer installed after the vehicle was made. Which do you have the XL or XLS? We then can go from there.

it is an xl. the previous owner said she never had one but i assumed the premium toyota came with one. i called dealer and he didnt show an option on the 99 so he assumed it had it also. however, i went through the programming procedure and the doors locks did not cycle, so, maybe it doesnt have it.

Yes the keyless entry is optional and not standard on XL's. A way to tell if you have it installed is look around the dashbord. Do you have a red LED light installed anywhere? Also when you said the locks didn't cycle, that was also a clue. You can probably have a dealer or auto alarm co install one for you. My car is a 97 XLS and it came standard. I love it.
