1995 Avalon - keys won't open doors or trunk

I recently purchased a 1995 Avalon. After completing the purchase and getting the car home I noticed that the keys will not turn in the door locks or the trunk, they do however start the car. Any idea what the problem could be?

Not sure about this year of car, but Avalon’s had master and valet keys. The valet key started the car but did not allow access to the trunk, etc. If the car came with an owners manual check this out.

Or could just be a bad key (worn), or the ignition lock has been changed.

How did the dealer open up the trunk when you inspected the car?

the valet key would open the doors, and he prob just used the trunk release in the car to open the trunk. sounds for sure that the ignition core was replaced, so that key now wont open doors or trunk.

I believe that your dealer can make keys for the original locks from the vehicle's VIN. Also, there may be a small metal tag in the glove compartment that has a key code on it.

Good luck.
