Tires for 99 Avalon

Hi all,
New member here, have been through 3 sets of tires on my wifes 99, she puts alot of miles on with her work( its got about 135,000), has been a GREAT car overall, but would like some suggestions/opinions on tires..have had goodyear, bridgestone potenza, can't remember OEM set... would like something that gets good life also does ok in snow/ice, doesn't have to handle like an indy car..:O) Anyone out there live in snowy type country that has good long life with tires "
thanks,
the iceman

And now for the most unpopular opinion...

If you live in snow country, you should have two sets of tires. 'All' season for summer and dedicated snow tires in the winter. If you haven't run with modern snow tires, you will be amazed. I've been running Nokian's for last six years and I am completely sold on them. When the roads are bad I notice every rwd truck spin and fishtail away from the lights and every fwd spin until momentum picks up. I just crawl away. Now imagine what happens in a sudden stop or turn...

Since you put a lot of miles on your car, it will cost you very little extra. Buy another set of wheels (steel wheels are best) and mount the snow tires on these (I had factor steels and bought nice aluminums for summer.) The cost of these wheels is about the only extra since your wear will be spread over two sets of tires.

Give 'em a try...they work.

Not really unpopular at all Greg.
If the need is there for a lot of winter driving, your suggestion is definitely the way to go.
8 tires and 8 wheels for four seasons is the absolute best. No compromise needed.
In your case, I'd have 4 Nokian Hakka Q's (or the new RSI) on steel wheels for winter, and either a Turanza from Bridgestone or an NRH from Nokiasn for the other three seasons. $$
Styling!!
