Gen1 97 Avalon Upgrades (Searched but have wasn't helpful)

Hi,

I just picked up a 97 Avalon and would like to make it look a little nicer. I found that I can upgrade the headlights to the 98-99 version which is nice. Now will the front bumper cover from a 98-99 fit on the 97? I am used to having Fog lights in all of my vehciles and this 97 doesn't have them. I noticed the 98-99's do so I'd like to put those on mine.

Also, this shifter in this car is HUGE. any way to shorten that down? Any other years fit? I've never owned a Toyota before so modifying these cars is very new to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI
Here are the two bumper that you might plan to change.

As you notice there is no turn signal on the 99 bumper like in the 97 bumper

Quote:
A new grille along with new jeweled multi-reflector headlights gave the front of the Avalon a new look. Turn signals are now located behind a clear lens next to the headlights for improved appearance and quality of fitment. At the other end there is a new trunk lid that is nine inches wider than before for easier loading and unloading. A lip on the trailing edge acts as a rear spoiler. The tail lamps also received the multi-reflector treatment.
I think (hope that some one will correct me if I'm wrong), you'll need to modify the connects of the turn signal so you can place it in the clear side corner lens. I think the bumper will fit(with minor mods).

Have you ever though of something like this for the fog lights?

Thanks.

If anyone can confirm that the 99 bumper cover will in fact fit on the 97 I would greatly appreicate it. I have thought of instalilng fog lights similar to the photo you provided. However, I like keeping a stock look. While those lights you posted look good on I don't know if i'd like them if they were turned off.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting a body kit, but replacing the bumper looks just as good and less expensive, but nobody seemed to answer the question about the shifter.. Anyone know if teh shifter can be upgraded? I need to replace mines.
