No fooling, the driver's side read doo was half filled with water during the recent strecth of rainy days (18 of 23days).
It seems like some piece of trim is blocking a drain hole. Took nearly an hour to let it all drain oout.
Anyone heard of this?

Zee, I feel you man!! I was at sixflags NJ that weekend, when my friend told me that I got water in the wondow. I thought, yeah right your funny, but when he swung the door in and out.....water.....
solution: I drilled two holes on the bottom of the door. Its only a temporary thing for now, but heck it helps to minimize the splashing sound.....
i have an avalon and i have a problem with the trunk filling up with water, so i pulled the plugs in the wheel well. its a pain in the ass, ive even gone as far as getting in the trunk closing it and having a friend hose the car down and see where it was leaking, with a flashlight, unfortunately no success yet...

i have the same problem. try checking the seals in the trunk. it may look like its seal, but its actually not. also check the hole in the middle of your spare tire

I've checked around and there doesn't seem to be any holes, or leaks along the window trim, glass or door. Its weird how water just gets into the door. I think that maybe..just maybe it could be the little 3mm gap between the trim above the door handle. I know it sounds off, but I looked at all the other trim on the other doors, and there shut tight. So go figure.
yo, what year are y'alls avalons? my dad has an 00, and we haven't noticed this yet. That's pretty freaky. for all y'all that havne't drilled holes and crap, have u tried taking it to the dealer and seeing what's up?
lol, just noticed i've used the work y'all in all my posts thus far
I have a 96 avalon. i got it from a private party so I dunno if I can take it to yhe dealer. I think its only occuring in the 95-97 years. But still I think drilling it is a temporary solution til I find the leak...
I just had the same thing happen to me. I found some square holes along the bottom of the door and tryed to poke A wire up there no luck. Then I found two small plastic plugs at each end of the door and pulled them out. It was like A water fall.
I have a 97 Toyota Avalon with the same problem with water filling up in the passenger side rear door. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?? Please help!
i found the lowest place on the door that was outside, but would drain onto the exterior footwell. I drilled a small, 3/16 hole there and after the initial waterfall, I have not had any water accumulation issues since.
ps I also sealed the door, out side of interior metal a,dn inside of interior metal, to keep any water that is travelling through the door out of the cabin. two years, still not a problem

I have a 98 avalon and the driver side rear door was filling with water. I rolled down the back glass about 6'' and you could move the glass around. must be getting in thru the loose window.
I still haven't found the plugs to drain the door. I noticed my trunk had about 3'' of water in the spare well and the car was detailed last month and not sure if the detailer did it when he shampooed the trunk carpet.
Has anyone had trouble with the trunk light assembly? I tried taking the bulb out to dry out the trunk and the little holders fell out. The trunk button in the glove box don't work now. Not sure that has anything to do with it... thanks.

I didn't find any drain plug for the door, but merely pull the tims moulding out from the body a little and the water will drain.
You trunk probably had water in the well for some time. I believe there is a plug there you can remove.
