Cupholders

I have a 1998 Avalon XLS and the cupholders suck. Water bottles always fall out and just about everything in it tips. Is there a way to replace them or make them cling on to whatevers in there? Thanks

I recently bought a 97 Avalon, and am wondering the same thing. I find myself missing a lot of the interior features my 92 Pontiac Bonneville had.

I'm thinking the only thing to do would be to get some of those clip on type holders and fasten them to the door pockets. Not a great solution. I will probably keep this car for a year and then get rid of it. Not too impressed with it overall.

What do you mean "stuck?" I may have a similar problem on our 2006.

On ours, there are plastic flaps on the center divider between the two holders. They are spring loaded so as to press on the side of the cup, stablizing it. They never worked very well in the first place, as the spring is not strong enough to resist a full water bottle. Now, the one for the forward holder appears to be broken. My wife was trying to "make it work better" by pulling up on it, and it must have snapped over-center somehow and will not return to its normal downward position. I.e., it sticks up, so I can't even close the
consoled lid.

Anyone know how to fix this?
