oem alarm system beeping

when i bought my 95 xls, i didn't receive any remotes for the alarm system. i bought two off of ebay and reprogrammed the remotes by accessing the receiver module in the trunk.

my question is, did the alarm system beep the horn to confirm that the doors locked or unlocked? did it even blink lights or anything like that? all i get is unlock/lock with no confirmation beep or lights, so i always have to check if it did indeed lock...

Canada 95 Xls

Hi aigochamaloh,

Interesting question, I'll like to hear from other 1995 XLS owners as well.

but mine 95 XLS is the same as your, you can hear the doors look and unlock but no confirmation like the light or horn like aftermaker remote or newer model car have.

it was the same as my old Grand Cherokee, std remote had no beep nor lights, it just lock and unlock.

well, lets wait and see for some more response

Same here with my 96 XLS.

My truck (02 Tundra), however, beeps (electronic beeps, not horn beeps) and flashes the park lights in synch with the beeps.

Both are Toyota OEM.

Gen1

My 97 XLS is also the same. It gives no audiable signal of lock / unlock. The horn will sound off on alarm function though. After hearing about others inquire about this I can conclude this is a normal function.

I agree. I guess Toyota didn't think to include those ever useful functions back then. I know starting in 98 with the facelift for the Gen I, that the alarm did those things.

Oh well, I really would like to have it, but I don't want to rip out my OEM alarm for an aftermarket.
