Question uhoh!

yesterday afternoon my son was changing the battery on his 95 avalon. he was replacing the 'toyota' battery with an optima yellow top. after a few minutes of struggling to get it to fit, he concluded that turning it around would be much more simple. he then touched the car positive to the battery negative and the car negative to the battery positive. from what he tells me it was not pretty. the car would not start & it turned out that the 120 amp alternator fuse was blown. after it was replaced the car works fine. but now the problem is that his aftermarket sony headunit will not power up. fuses are all fine, and i can't seem to figure out the problem. could it possibly be that a fuse blew inside the headunit? any help would be greatly appricated!

Gen1

Electrical issues can be very tricky at times, if at all possible, it would be (cheapest) to check the fuse inside the unit. most times there is a seperate fuse in there just to protect it. i also wonder if there is anything else that isnt working? did he check all the fuses? there are a bunch all around the car to check just in case. also is it a unit with a removable faceplate? if so, maybe check the terminals for proper connectivity.
hopefully it is just a fuse, hopefully it did its job to protect the circuit and blew at its weakest link.
best of luck figuring it out.

+1

Most of the time, there is a fuse on the headunit itself, so do check that.
