lol, i did 130 in my 98 XL a few years back, it was scary as shit, but the car rode smooth and felt like it might have had more left in it, but i'm not going to find out, lol.
My tires are only rated to 130mph so if it can do like a couple more is that a problem if I tried or should I stop a few mph under 130 just to play it safe.
2001 Avalons can peg the spedo at 140 very easily still smooth as glass and quiet, this has been tested by myself in an 01 XLS and an 01 XL the XL got there faster
no, other than unnecessary wear and everything that goes along with it. also its got a lot to do with how long you are doin a buck. if its only for a few miles vs, driving across a state going that fast, there are the obvious disadvantages.
In my 97 I hit 142 going downhill on 280 from San Francisco back to San Jose, I had the traction control off (tcs off button only on higher models) and ECT on. It is 5 lanes across and it was like high noon so it was pretty clear except for the black 5 series trying desperately to catch me =p
5 series will own a 97 avy. Anyway this was a long time ago last July I did 132, had a few more I think. Since then I have cut down dramatically on speeding, because it really is dangerous and stupid as hell to go that fast. The occasional 10-15 over is fine.
