Gen1 Does my '95 XL have wireless remote door lock/unlock?

Hello I was looking through the owner's manual for my '95 Avalon XL and on page 10 it says "Your vehicle has a wireless remote control system that can lock or unlock all the doors from a distance of..."

I bought the car from a private party last year and didn't get a remote with it, just keys. Does anyone know if it's a standard feature or an option for the '95 XL and if an option how can I tell if my car has it? Also where would I get a remote?

Thanks!

the alarm system receiver, if installed, is in the trunk. take off the carpeting on the left side of the trunk and you should see a little box mounted there. if you do, then you have the wireless entry system. i have programming instructions if you need them. you can get remotes on ebay.

The XL model doesn't have wireless remote lock unless it was installed as a dealer / port installed option. If you do have the remote door opener and sec alarm, you should see a red or yellow LED installed somewhere on your dashboard.

Yeah I thought so but the way the manual was worded got me wondering if the XL had it. No there are no lights on the dash or box in the trunk.
Thanks for the info on that.
Anyone know of a good aftermarket setup?

what are the instructions, because i do have the little black box about the size of 2 boxes of cards on the inner left rear fender in addition to the red LED on the dash. how would i go about programming a remote for it? does it make any difference that there is an aftermarket keyless entry also installed as well?

So, where would I look to disable the alarm/keyless system? I mean, I need to cut some 12V power line. Is it still in the trunk? On a 97 Avalon XLS.

Why do you want to disable it? It doesn't get in your way at all. It won't lock your car automatically unless you unlock it remotely and don't open a door within 30 sec. If you only use a key, it disables alarm immediately as you turn the key to unlock it. Again, why disable it?

Didn't realize this got a response, sorry.

It's interfering with the remote start system I have currently installed (Bulldog Security Deluxe 200B I think). It starts every once in a while, but sometimes, it won't start, but it'll set off the alarm instead, with the only solution being running out to the car and putting in the key. My brother and I installed it... wiring should be right. I may have to check it, but it should be right. I double-checked the entire way.
