Tire Pressure in 98

I have a 98 XLS, with michelin pilot exalto A/S tires. The vehicle recommends 32 psi, however I am a very spirited driver. At what pressure do you think I should keep it at, I would like better cornering and handling, but I still want good traction?

try the search function and see what the camry guys do.
Most people just put a 35 all around and it definitely strengthen up the sidewalls a lot. For my gen 2 avi i have a 38.5, 33.5 set up using the chalk method

in my opinion, 32 is just not enough..

the recommended PSI is reccommended for a reason, its optimal for the tire. But go by what it says on the tire, not what the car says. different tires reccommend different inflation levels.

The owner's manual says 32 for all the tires but on the side of the tire it says max. 44 so what's the best pressure, 1/2 way in between?

lol...

the pressure on the tire is the "max allowed tire pressure"
you don't want to go beyond that..plus, pressure increases as you drive..so i won't go more than 40 on a 44 tire..

32 (or what ever toyota calls for) is the min, you don't want to go below that. However, tires are often underinflated when they only have the min

easiest way, 35 all around...or 36F 34R since we have a front drive and it's also heavier...

you can draw some arrows on the side wall and drive some figure 8 cornering action in a parking lot and see how much mark gets rub off afterwards. Set your tire pressure according to the sidewall firmness level of desired.

Yeah, I think I have mine at around 38 now. 32 psi was way to little. I might even do 40psi next time. At 32 psi this car handles like a boat. The handling even at 38 isn't so great on this car, but it isn't a sports car. And the suspension isn't firm enough so even at 38, the ride feels very cushioney still.

you might want to even try nitrogen, so you dont have to keep checking and refilling your tires, but as best as i have heard its like 20$/tire or so. but on the up side, it doesnt leak unless you get a flat

Haha, between 80 bucks or spending 5 minutes extra at the gas station every couple months I think I'll just fill them at the gas station.
