Gen1 '95 Air Cond. Warm Air

My '95 has a weird issue. It'll blow ice cold air at first, then after a while I lose it. The a/c switch is still lit and the blower keeps going, but no cold air and no "conditioning." When this happens the windows start to fog as a result.

Also, I think there is an odor of oil from the engine compartment and the vents but it's not motor oil.

When I restart after a couple of hours or next day, then ice cold air is there again.

Any help is appreciated.

I did a semi-search so I don't know if this will help you or not, but it's probably your expansion valve. If your expansion valve is frozen over, it can't let out cold air properly. or you have low freon.

i know this is 2 years old, but.. an expansion valve doesn't "let out cold air". it's just a metering device to vary the amount of refrigerant it allows through depending on the temperature of the suction line.
