Rack & Pinion

I see alot of members complain when they have to replace their rack & pinion, what are some common signs that the rack & pinion is going bad?

The ends of the rack housing have bushings and oil seals that can wear out and cause excess fluid leakage or rake endplay. The rack itself can have damaged or worn teeth resulting in hard steering wheel rotation in spots or excess steering play.

Before blaming the rack and pinion, make sure all the other steering and suspension components are in good shape.

I was just searching for a power steering fluid leak, there were no other symptoms. Steering was fine, but it was the rack leaking
