Electric Door Lock '98 - Does not unlock

All-

Any advice on what might be wrong w/ my electric passenger side front door lock? Mechanically it works by hand. But when attempting to unlock electrically (from drivers side), it doesn't work.

Is this a motor issue or something else? Also any advice on how hard to repair? I am a do it yourself kinda guy.

Door lock actuator is dying/ dead. The driverside one on our 98 is very weak. Costs something like $250 just for the part plus labor. We have learned to live with the problem.

YIKES! $250!?!?!? Holy cow! I'll live w/ it a while as well. I hope they don't ALL go.

Does the door unlock when the passengers side switch is used?

With my 98 the mechanical lock switch works. Pushing the electrical open-close all locks bearly moves the mechanical switch.
I had the door panel off and looked around at the door actuator, lock set-up.
Saw nothing obviously bad so I put the door panel back on the door.

My passenger side door lock doesn't unlock or lock when ANY switch is used if memory serves me right. It's at home awaiting me to finish installing new calipers tonight, so I can't check right now.

It locks just fine when I mechanically personally lock or unlock the door itself.

Thoughts?

Man, I'd love to find a cheaper place for parts than the Dealer!!

And I bet the part doesn't cost 1/5 of the asking price.
