I'm guessing you have a 1st gen? (post all that pertinent info initially, makes it easier for folks to help). If it is separate, then you need to pull the wheel, drum or rotor, and the four bolts that hold the hub assembly in place. Once that's off, you'll need a hydraulic press to separate the hub from the bearing and press it into the new one.

If I'm recalling correctly, I thought that the ABS models had sealed hub & bearing units with the rotor built in. I've been out of it for a little bit, so details get fuzzier every day. If not, the ABS rotors are usually wrecked when they're pulled off, so you'd need a new wheel anyway. Double check with the parts dept, I'd swear that I've never messed with an ABS rotor on the back of an Avalon or Camry.

The local parts store sold me just the bearing, without the hub, and they say that the hub and sensor wheel are removeable. however other sources have told me otherwise.

thanks for the help

The bearings are usually sold already installed in the hub. Have not seen referances to removing/installing the bearing into the hub, just remove and replacing the hub (even in Toyota manual).

The bearing must be pressed into the hub, if you can press out the old bearing and install the new without damaging anything can't say. You will need a press to try this.

Places like www.rockauto.com may have the hub/bearing combo.
