97 avalon xl check engine light after installing short ram intake, helP!

well, i just recently installed a cheap ebay short-ram air intake into my 1997 toyota avalon xl with my cousin, and after about 30 miles of driving the check engine light comes on. i asked my cousin and he also said that his brother's bmw check engine light came on after installing an aftermarket short-ram intake.anybody know why? and do i really need to take it to a mechanic =\? thanks alot.

well, sometimes i'd have the skinniest hose loose, but it didn't affect the check engine light. i actually bought a short-ram intake for a 99-01 toyota camry solara because i knew the engines were similar. with the intake in now, i have one hose that's not plugged because of no open hole for it. oh and by the way, where is the crankcase located?

any hose not hooked up will cuase a CEL

thats what happens when u buy aftermarket cheapy intakes..

you are gonna have to find a way to plug that hose back in.. im guess it goes to the intake.. so

ohhh, ya i took it to autozone to check it out and an error code came up for the o2 sensor. the guy just erased it for me and hopefully it won't come back up again haha. he told me that the hose doesn't even affect the intake. and by the way, i put a short ram intake not a cold air hehe.
