Could I have a Security Module Problem on '98 Avy?

My key FOB works intermittently. Could it be a problem w/ the security module? The battery checks out fine. Any one have experience w/ this?

Also where is the sensor? Can I clean it?

Might be a dirty switch on the FOB causing intermediate contact.

Is this something I can access and clean? If so, can you point me there?

If there are other buttons on the FOB see if they all work, if only one button has a problem then the contact could be the issue. If all buttons don not work could be a battery, battery contact or as you state the cars theft protection system.

Not sure if the unit can be taken apart or how.

Also do a TN search; the issues of FOB and Toyota security systems not working or working strangely does come up from time to time.
