I'm thinking about getting an after market remote start key for my 98 Avalon XLS. I have a couple questions though, how much is it? What is a good one? I mean I don't need anything crazy, just the remote start, unlock, lock and all that. Oh, and can I install it by myself easily?

Whether or not you can install one yourself, it takes a fair amount of tinkering, finding wires, cutting, splicing, and deciphering wiring diagrams. The thing that's nice about this brand is the fact that the product comes with a code to access your own cars diagrams from their website, so it's model specific instead of generic.

I had a viper remote installed in my car, not the fanciest, but remote starts, does door and trunk locks, and has starter disable when activated to prevent theft. the system was about 300.00 installed. i've loved it. starts car from accross large parking lots, and even from within some stores and resteraunts.
