hey guys,
i need to replace the climate control knob light on my 1996 Avalon XLS. I dont know how to take the dashboard off however... i cant figure it out and i really dont want my car to be in 1000 pieces that i cant put back right Thanks!
had to do this a few months ago..it's very easy. just pull off the front cover of the radio it will expose the climate control knobs. Then just unscrew the panel pop it out, and behind it you will see the light bulbs. Just pull em out and replace them, it is that simple
it really is that simple, lol, ive done it easy, tens of times, just to explore if nothing else at times. i would take a thin flathead and pry the bottom under the trim up first and then pull around the raido a tad, and then get the key hole and then get the top with the ac vents and all. dont forget to unplug your emergency flasher to get it out of the way. oh and by the way, your turn signals will not work if you dont have that plugged back in, so dont forget it.
no problem... i was wondering that myself... i need to order them before i can take the dash apart... when i am taking the dash off, am i pulling at the "wood" trim or am i pulling at the other section?
if i pull what i think you are talking about off, then most of the dash is coming off with it... can i just pop off the wood piece that the climate control is in?
the intermittent light problems are not fuse problems. if a fuse is blown it wont work again until you replace the fuse, there is no flickering and sometimes working with a blown fuse. it seems that it would be a bulb or wiring issue if anything.
light bulb issues, mine would go on and off intermittently like if I hit a bump or i smacked the dash with my hand it would sometimes go on. When it stopped going on when smacking the dash, it was time to change the bulb : ). And yes, it was just the bulb, instrument panel lights work perfectly now.
