avalon brake bleeding

Howdy all, I drive a hand-me-down 1995 avalon with 200k on it.
it's been pretty great, did the starter last week, and this past weekend i put in a used right rear caliper. now i have NO pedal! I've bled and bled, to no avail. Seems like the left rear and right front bled ok, but the other 2 didn't seem to bleed. fluid came out, but the pedal didn't depress when I opened the bleeders.
What's up with that?
Help me anyone, please!!!???
driving it like this is scaring me and everyone else!

thanks, Liz

You must get someone to depress and hold pedal while you bleed , or else you can try those 1 man units but you get less feedback and will be slower.

I guess I should have wrote in that I had a pal in the driver's seat the whole time, putting up with my yelling commands and then some swearing.
I'm wondering if there is any procedure needed in addressing the ABS?
I had inadvertantly allowed the resevoir to empty. Now I think there's air everywhere.

"I had inadvertantly allowed the resevoir to empty. Now I think there's air everywhere."

Possible causes:
1. Fluid leaks for brake system
2. Air in brake system
3. Piston seals (Worn or damaged)
4. Rear brake shoe clearance (Out of adjustment)
5. Master cylinder (Faulty)
6. Booster push rod (Out of adjustment)

If the master cylinder has been disassembled or if the reservoir
becomes empty, bleed the air from the master cylinder
.
(a) Disconnect the 2 brake lines from the master cylinder.
(b) Slowly depress the brake pedal and hold it.
(c) Block off the outlet plugs with your fingers, and release
the brake pedal.
(d) Repeat (b) and (c) 3 or 4 times.

NOTICE:
Bleed air of the rear brake first. If front brake is bled first,
rear brake air cannot be bled.
