Airbag & ABS Lights 97 Avalon

I had new struts and towers installed on my 97 Avalon today. For some reason the airbag and ABS lights came on. The mechanic tested the ABS system and replaced the right rear sensor ($193 out of his pocket). He seemed at a loss about the airbag light. When I drove away, the ABS light came on again right away. Does anyone know what they might have done to make these lights come on and what can be done about it? Thanks.

Any number of things may have happened, you need to get the codes from the airbag and abs system to narrow it down and figure out what your car is trying to tell you.

Take it back to the mechanic and complain. As Qslim states, the system has its own troubleshooting system. If the shop does not know how to read the codes or troubleshoot the system it should not be working it or taking your money.
