USA Good engine oil degreaser.

Hi,

Getting ready to replace the valve cover gaskets and I want to know a good engine oil degreaser that I could pick up from Advance Auto Parts, so that I can remove the oil debris. I do not want to hose down the engine after spraying the degreaser. I would like it to just run down the side and not have to clean it.

The issue with cleaners is they leave a residue that over time may harm paint, rubber or other engine compartment items. Hence the need to flush with water.

Any reason you don’t want to flush the engine with water? Limited applications of water are not going to damage the engine or cause starting/running issues. These issues typically come from pressure washing the engine.

There are some environmental friendly cleaners such as Simple Green or water based products but would still flush as these may be slightly acidic or eventually damage paint, etc.
