USA 1996 Avalon Radio

I have a 1996 avalon that I had to replace the battery on, now the radio will not work. I bought it used so I don't have code to input, any suggestions?

Not sure if it will help, but my 95 owner's manual had an entire section on how to check the radio code and delete/add a new one - maybe your manual has the same and maybe that would do it? How long was the battery out of the car?

The battery was out for only a few minutes. I tried the info out of the book, but without original code it won't let me put in a new one.

You may be out of luck on resetting it yourself. A Toyota dealer can look up the radio data and reset the code. They may or may not charge for this, sometimes up to $80. Suggest calling first to see what info is needed and costs.

In the future either don’t set the code, record the code or connect another source of 12V DC power to the radio memory or battery cable when changing the battery.

Many other Toyota owners have been in this fix, do a TN and Google search in case there is something new out there that one can do themselves.
