1998 Remote Unlock
I just purchased a 1998 XL Avalon that did not come with a remote for locking and unlocking the car and I am trying to add the feature. I can not find the remote receiver control unit anywhere in the car. I have tried the reset method recommended (put key in ignition twice lock and unlock 5 times etc etc),and the jumping wires 11 and 12 method at the bulb failure module. It kind of makes me think this car either doesn't have one or someone has removed it. It is hard for me to believe a 98 Avalon would come without one. I was told it could either be under the passenger seat or behind the felt on the left side of the trunk. I could find the bulb failure module and there is a pigtail (7 port) just hanging there without anything attached. Is this for a remote CD or the missing remote receiver control I am looking for? Anyone have any ideas short of going to the dealer.
