1996 rear strut assemblies

I know that the archieves are full of information on this subject. However, there just doesn't seem to be an alternative to the Monroe all-in-one kit.
(I don't like Monroe. KYB is the only way to go!)
The dealer cost on the individual pieces is prohibitive.

So, bottom line, I am curious to know if any one has just replaced the rubber insulator and the crown, keeping the cartridge and spring and managed to shut up that clunking!! ???

Or has anyone found an all-in-one kit that uses KYB?

Thanks!

The rubber in the upper strut mount can break down with age and start to make noise. It is common for only this part to be changed. Also check the stabilizer bar bushings and link.

This (upper strut mount) would be the part that has to be accessed under the rear seat - with 3 nuts holding it to the frame?

Yeah, I have already replaced the stabilizer bar bushings - that made a huge improvement. But didn't silence it totally.
