Key won't come out of ignition

Hey everyone, yesterday a new problem started on my 97 avalon. I can't take the key out of the ignition. The car turns on and off, but the key wont come out. Any thoughts?

Can you spray any WD40 through it? Dunno if it would help, but I know when my key had a hard time in door locks, this helped.

The tumblers might have collapsed and the pins fell on to the key. That would mean that you won't be able to get the key back in after it does finally come out.Temp fix Big screw driver and a hammer real fix Change the cylinder.I could be wrong though.

That happened to me once with my 98. Oddly enough my friend turned the car on, moved the shift lever all the way down to L then back up to park, then turned it off and the key came right out. That was a few years ago and I haven't had the problem since.
